His time in Port Perry was quick because his father’s grocery business was not successful. Daniel discovered chiropractic on September 18th,1895. It was discovered when readjusting the spine of a deaf person.

Daniel did not want to share his theories with others, but after a near death experience, he decided to start teaching at his own school. After being released he then went to speak at his son’s school, on the way to the school he was hit by his son’s car in an accident and was killed by the injuries sustained.

25 years later, in July 1938 chiropractors across North America came to Port Perry to dedicate the park infront of Scugog Lake to Daniel David Palmer and in 1946 the National Chiropractic Association unveiled a bronze bust of Daniel in front of Scugog Lake.
